Inland
As part of the Marine Division, the "Inland Navigation Management" (DNI) is the Bureau Veritas Head Office for the inland navigation activities worldwide, covering classification and statutory matters of units operated on inland waterways, lakes, estuaries or semi-maritime streches of water as well as vessels operated alongside the coast for restricted domestic trade when they comply with the specific requirements.
As early as 1902, Bureau Veritas published its first Rules for construction and classification of inland vessels. Inland activities grew up continuously, thus to ensure close contact with the major players of inland activities, Bureau Veritas moved its head office dedicated to inland vessels to Antwerp 20 years ago. Today, more than 2000 inland vessels are provided with Bureau Veritas classification certificate throughout the world and at least 250 new constructions, such as tankers, container vessels, passenger vessels, barges, pushers, dredgers etc. are surveyed each year.
The ISO 17020 accreditation is presently in progress at the Inland Navigation Management in Antwerp for all the inland activities worldwide.
